Digital x-rays have become the modern standard of care in dentistry. Digital radiography is quicker, safer, more comfortable, and convenient than traditional x-rays, They provide 80% less radiation than traditional x-rays, and reduces the need for additional x-rays. Digital x-rays also provide more diagnostic information to Dr. Pinhasov and her team. Cavities, bone loss, abscesses, and various other non-painful dental conditions are more clearly seen with digital x-rays, allowing you to make the best decision for your treatment. Many dental conditions do not have symptoms, and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Radiographs can be used to detect these conditions early on, allowing for more treatment choices. Dental x-rays are crucial in assessing and treating your oral health.
It’s been said that a picture speaks a thousand words. At BP Dental Solutions, we use a slim camera designed for the mouth to photograph things we may notice during your dental exam. Things such as old fillings that are breaking down, tooth cracks, a broken tooth, tooth abscesses, oral lesions, tooth decay, and tooth wear are easily seen with the use of the camera. This lets us show the patient exactly what we are seeing, and clearly explain our concerns or recommendations for treatment, allowing you to make the best choice for your treatments. Ask Dr. Boris to take an intra-oral tour of your mouth at your next dental exam!
Cone Beam Kavo CT Scan
A dental cone beam CT scanner is a special type of dental x-ray machine that produces a three-dimensional scan of your teeth, jaws and the soft tissues in one complete and highly detailed image. It is especially useful for dental implant surgery and the images produced to allow for precise treatment planning. A CT scan shows the position of your natural teeth, the amount of available bone in your jaw that can be used for implant surgery and the position of nerves, blood vessels and sinus cavities that must be avoided during implant placement. Using this 3-D image, Dr. Boris can plan your surgery well in advance. It is also used when making a surgical stent or guide for use during the surgery, and for designing your new teeth.
Dental Laser Therapy
Lasers are used to treat a variety of dental issues including gum infection, sensitive teeth, and cold sores. Lasers are commonly used to kill bacteria hiding under the gums. Laser therapy is a safe, gentle, and non-invasive supplemental dental treatment Dr. Boris offers his patients for. An unsightly cold sore can form at any time. Treating it with a laser immediately at the beginning of an outbreak can significantly shorten the duration of your cold sore.
The iTero Scanner is a sophisticated piece of machinery that is able to produce highly detailed and accurate digital maps of the inside of a patient’s mouth. These are, in turn, translated into 3D images, which a lab technician can use to make highly accurate dental restorations and orthodontic equipment, such as:
- Ceramic crowns: for the restoration of damaged/decayed teeth.
- Porcelain veneers: for the treatment of damaged/discolored teeth.
- Invisalign aligners: for the straightening of crooked, overlapping teeth.
When scanning commences, Dr. Boris will show you the images as they are taken on the monitor. Once your entire mouth has been scanned and recorded by iTero, a process that only takes five to eight minutes, we then create a 3-dimensional image of your mouth. This will be sent off to our dental laboratory to have your restorations or Invisalign retainers fabricated. In the meanwhile, if you are undergoing Invisalign treatment, our office will be able to show you the simulated outcomes!
